Zip-Tie Fastening

Pick a zip tie from a tray, thread and fasten it, then place the closed tie in a second tray.

Robot in Simulation

Task Description

One arm holds the zip-tie head while the other threads the tail through it. The second arm lets go of the tail, grips it again where it comes out of the head, and pulls repeatedly until the loop is tight. The tie bends as it is pulled, so each new grip depends on where the tail ends up.

Grounding Focus

A flexible strip, small opening, and locking mechanism combine deformable contact with coordinated hand motion.

Evaluation Focus

Threading and fastening success, regrasp count, and completion time.

Evaluation protocols and results will be published as they become available.
